Position: Bank Support Workers

Hours: Various hours ,would need to be fully flexible and includes weekends and sleep ins 

Salary: £8.21 + benefits

About Us:

Hazelwood House is a detached house built in 1904 by a local builder with colour washed elevations and tiled roof. The gardens are mostly laid to lawn with shrubs and fruit trees. There are three patio areas. One of which incorporates a barbecue

Emphasis is placed on ensuring that everyone enjoys the highest quality of life, being supported and encouraged in every aspect of their lives. The team at Hazelwood provides 24 hour support to adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Community participation and involvement is actively encouraged through person centred planning, to meet individual goals and aspirations, which keep the person safe and happy.

The service provides leisure activities on the weekend with a wide variety to choose from. Everyone is also given choice in the evenings if they would like to go to social clubs or pubs in the local community. Everyone is given the opportunity to take an annual holiday and staff support the people within the service on these trips.

 

Bank Support Worker

We are looking for 2 fully flexible bank workers to join our vibrant service in East Cowes. Applicants must have good flexibility and be willing to do sleep ins and weekend work. Please note training will be on the mainland.

 The ability to drive and access to your own vehicle would be desirable, but it is not essential.

Essential  

  • Willingness to achieve (training) in line with regulations
  • Good basic numeracy & literacy
  • Proficient in IT; Word, Outlook, Internet
  • Participation in a wide range of activities with the people we support in the Service and community
  • Willingness to provide a range of care, relating to individual care plans including personal care
  • Ability to work within policy, process and systems of work e.g. medication management
  • Professional manner and presentation
  • Good spoken and written English ability to record information accurately
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours e.g. early morning, evening, weekends, sleep-ins

 Desirable  

  • NVQ/QCF2 or 3 in Social Care Awareness or equivalent
  • 6 months experience in similar role or desire to work in the Health and Social Care Sector
  • Experience working with non-verbal communication methods
  • Experience of working with people with different needs and levels of complexity
  • Full driving licence to transport the people we support in the community

Principal Tasks  

    • Engages with and follows individual Service User Care Plans
    • Updates Service User Care Plans and risk assessments
    • Uses company processes to capture information and maintain individuals files
    • Undertakes identified goal-oriented activities and care for each person we support
    • Offers and presents options to support and empower choice
    • Responsible for the capture of outcome information and data, on company documentation and processes
    • Completes specific, delegated tasks to deadlines and quality standards
    • Provides key worker support
    • Act as advocate for the people we support
    • Works in partnership with colleagues, appropriate family, friends, others significant to the individual and care professionals
