About us:

Highdowns service is set within a beautiful backdrop which holds panoramic views over St. Ives bay in Cornwall.

The service provides opportunities for individuals with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health issues and other concurrent complex needs to equip themselves with the skills they need to live the life they choose including moving on to supported living when they are ready. The service encourages and promotes people to gain confidence in their lives, and promotes decision making and choice through a person-centred approach, which is individualised and dependent on the specific needs and communication requirements of each person.

This service is approximately 2 miles from Camborne town centre and transport is available for people to access the local community. All the buildings are situated in beautiful grounds that are linked together so that individuals can access all areas and benefit from the gardens, open fields and a further barn which provides communal recreation opportunities for people who live in all the properties on site. We have many different types of animals here on the farm including pigs, ducks chickens and sheep.

Main Purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to assist the Service Manager in ensuring that the site environment, garden and farm are maintained to a satisfactory and acceptable environment. Animal husbandry is also part of this role

Principal Tasks –

  • To ensure the effective running of the farm
  • To assist in ensuring that all relevant Health and safety regulations are compiled with
  • To assist in ensuring the external environment is kept litter free
  • Cleans, repairs and arrange all equipment used in grounds and make sure they are maintained to the highest standard
  • Order all supplies for all aspects of Grounds keeping/farming
  • Plants and trims lawns, trees, bushes etc
  • Landscaping new ground areas
  • Animal husbandry and monitoring animal health and welfare
  • Applies herbicide and pesticide chemicals to grounds
  • Marketing the farms products
