About us:

Highdowns service is set within a beautiful backdrop which holds panoramic views over St. Ives bay in Cornwall.

The service provides opportunities for individuals with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health issues and other concurrent complex needs to equip themselves with the skills they need to live the life they choose including moving on to supported living when they are ready. The service encourages and promotes people to gain confidence in their lives, and promotes decision making and choice through a person-centred approach, which is individualised and dependent on the specific needs and communication requirements of each person.

 

This service is approximately 2 miles from Camborne town centre and transport is available for people to access the local community. All the buildings are situated in beautiful grounds that are linked together so that individuals can access all areas and benefit from the gardens, open fields and a further barn which provides communal recreation opportunities for people who live in all the properties on site. We have many different types of animals here on the farm including pigs, ducks chickens and sheep.

Role Overview – Waking Night Support Worker 

You will provide care and support personalised to the people we support in line with their Care Plan. You will work within the team to provide individual high quality person-centred care to individuals we support, supporting each to reach their optimum potential (hopes and dreams). You will work night shifts and handover to the team coming in on shift in the morning. Experience with peg feeding and buccal administration is preferred but not essential as all training is provided.

 

 Essential – Support Worker 

  • Willingness to achieve (training) in line with regulations
  • Participation in a wide range of activities with the people we support in the Service and community
  • Willingness to provide a range of care, relating to individual care plans including personal care

Desirable – Support Worker

  • NVQ/QCF2 or 3 in Social Care Awareness or equivalent
  • 6 months experience in similar role or desire to work in the Health and Social Care Sector
  • Experience working night shifts
  • Peg feeding and buccal administration experience

 

Principal Tasks - Support Worker

  • Engages with and follows their Care Plans
  • Updates their Care Plans and risk assessments
  • Offers and presents options to support and empower choice and independence
  • Responsible for the capture of outcome information and data, on company documentation and processes
  • Responsible for your own, People we support and site visitor health and safety (H&S)
  • Works within company policies and procedures and relevant regulation at all times
  • Ensure the safety of the people we support at night.
  • Support with medical emergencies at night
  • Carry out nightly Health & Safety checks
  • Work throughout the night and provide the morning staff with a handover
