Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Welfare Rights Caseworker to join our community hub team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the organisation's core operations and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of services.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide casework covering the full range of welfare benefits.

· Act for the people we support where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.

· Negotiate with third parties as appropriate.

· Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits.

· Prepare and present cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts as appropriate.

· Assist people we support and families with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate.

· Maintain close liaison with relevant external agencies.

Requirements:

· Up to date knowledge and experience of the current benefits system is essential.

· Effective oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiating and representing people we support.

· Effective writing skills with particular emphasis on negotiating, representing and preparing reviews, submissions, and correspondence.

· Ability to work in an organised manner with particular emphasis on casework and an ability and willingness to follow and develop agreed procedures.

· Demonstrate an understanding of social trends and their implications for people we support and service provision

· Understand the issues involved in interviewing vulnerable clients.

· Experience of working in care home settings is desirable
